Win: How to fix the issue with your graphic card?

In the case, you encountered this error below, please follow one of the appropriate methods for you:

1. Method 1: Add app to Graphics Card Preferences
   
   • AMD Radeon Graphics Cards
   • Nvidia Graphics Cards
2. Method 2: Disable Built-in Graphics Card

Method 1: Add app to Graphics Card Preferences

AMD Radeon Graphics Cards:

1️⃣ Right Click on the Desktop to open the context menu.
2️⃣ Select AMD Radeon Settings.

3️⃣ Open Preferences or click on System tab from the right corner to find the Switchable Graphics tab and click on it.

4️⃣ It will list down all the application which needs to use the graphic card. If Monosnap isn’t listed just press Running applications and select the Installed Profiled Application.

5️⃣ Click on the Browse button and select Monosnap.exe.
6️⃣ Click on the recently added app and select the Power Saving option and you are done.

Nvidia Graphics Cards

1️⃣ Right Click on the Desktop to open the context menu.

2️⃣ Select NVIDIA Control Panel.

3️⃣ Go to Manage 3D settings > Program Settings.

4️⃣ In Select a program to customize menu, select monosnap.exe.
5️⃣ In Select the preferred graphics processor for this program menu, select Integrated graphics option, and you are done.

 

Method 2: Disable Built-in Graphics Card

Also, you can disable the built-in graphics adapter and force Windows to use a dedicated graphics card. This trick will work on all other Windows versions including old Windows editions like Windows 8/8.1. This won’t harm your PC or Windows.

⚠️ Note: If you disable the built-in graphic card from your Windows you won’t be able to set the brightness, also your Windows sleep option will be gone. To get back these features you need to re-enable built-in graphics.

Follow these steps to disable the built-in graphic card:

1️⃣ Right Click on the start menu icon to open the context menu.
2️⃣ Select Device Manager.

3️⃣ In the Device Manager window, expand the Display adaptors
4️⃣ Right Click on your built-in graphic card. There is Intel (R) HD Graphics 520 in the example below.

Then your Windows screen will go black for a second which means Windows is switching your Graphics card to a dedicated card.

That’s it! If you want to re-enable your built-in graphics then repeat the above steps and click on Enable device.
